Rescue crews took a driver to the hospital after, police said, she slammed into a concrete pole in Hallandale Beach, a crash that claimed the life of a passenger.Hallandale Beach Police and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the hit-and-run, early Saturday morning.Surveillance video captured the moment of impact near West Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Southwest Eighth Avenue.The male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.Paramedics transported the female driver to Aventura Hospital where, officials said, she is listed in stable condition.Hours later, cameras captured the mangled vehicle, left nearly unrecognizable.The cause of the crash remains under investigation.Homeowner hospitalized after house in Sunrise catches fire

After a dry and mild first half of April, cool and unsettled weather is expected for the rest of the month. Today was no exception, with rain nearly the entire day. Although it was soggy, much-needed rainfall of over 1/4-2.5″ fell across the area, bringing rain totals for the month closer to average. FALLBROOK, Calif. -- All southbound lanes on a stretch of the Interstate 15 in Fallbrook are blocked off due to a fatal multi-vehicle collision, Caltrans said in a tweet.The accident occurred just north of State Route 76 around 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Three cars were involved, according to California Highway Patrol logs. One vehicle was overturned. BIG BEAR, Calif. -- After five and a half months, Big Bear Mountain Resort has finally started to close its slopes for the season.The resort announced that Sunday was the last day to ski or snowboard at Bear Mountain for the season, marking the end of a historic winter at the Southern California mountain.Snow Summit, the other hill at Big Bear Mountain Resort, will remain open through the end of April for snow sports enthusiasts.Over the course of the winter season, Big Bear Mountain Resort saw over 240 inches of natural snowfall, as multiple winter storms pushed through the region.
