By November, a lot of college football players are feeling the bumps and bruises they’ve accumulated over the previous three months of practices and games. There is a fine line, however, between trying to manage and minimize the wear and tear and getting prepared for the physicality of November football. That’s even more important for the Colorado Buffaloes (4-4, 1-4 Pac-12) as they prepare to face one of the most physical teams in the conference in No. 16 Oregon State (6-2, 3-2) on Saturday at Folsom Field (8 p.m., ESPN).“That is a tricky balance,” CU linebackers coach Andre Hart said this week. “In the pro game, they do it very well where you have thudding and you don’t take anybody to the ground. … But, it’s very tricky, because you get to a point, you play so many games, you play so many snaps, guys are banged up. You want to make sure they get to the game so we can have a successful game.“So, you have to monitor that but then playing a team like (Oregon State), when you have you...

When Colorado head coach Deion Sanders came up with the idea of moving safety Trevor Woods to linebacker, Woods didn’t flinch.“Nah, it was (just) do whatever,” Woods said. “Whatever keeps me on the field, whatever helps us.”And, really, there wasn’t a choice. The Buffaloes (4-4, 1-4 Pac-12) needed some help at linebacker and Woods jumped out as the man that could fill that role.“It was more of like a dime package thing at first,” Woods said. “But then, it was working really well and they were just like, ‘Hey, get in Trevor,’ because something happened (at practice). It happened just like that two days before the game.”Related Articles Welcome to Denver’s Rivalry Weekend: Bronze Boot, Gold Pan, Commander in Chief trophies all up for grabs. PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Across the nation, much of the debate around gun rights and restrictions centers on mental health. Many advocates on both sides agree that getting people with serious mental health struggles into treatment, and preventing people who are dangerous from accessing guns, is key to preventing mass shootings. Yet in the weeks and months before the mass shooting in Lewiston, there were so many warning signs from the killer that people all around him were raising concerns to authorities. He was still able to massacre 18 people, wound another 13 and shatter a community’s sense of security.Lawmakers want answers as to why laws in two states — Maine and New York — didn’t prevent the tragedy.“It’s a massive failure,” said Republican state Sen. Lisa Keim, sponsor of Maine’s so-called “yellow flag” law. “This one, it seems that there were too many touchpoints for neither law to come into play.”The law in Maine, a state that is staunchly protective of gun rights, requi...
