Taylor Swift isn’t just a great performer - she’s also an economic force unlike any other seen before.Swift earned an estimated $4.1 billion from her wildly successful ERAS TOUR, according to an associate professor of management at Babson College in Massachusetts. But the economic impact goes far beyond what Swift herself pocketed.Software company QuestionPro surveyed 592 Swifties and, based on their responses, estimated that fans spent around $93 million per show on tickets, merchandise, travel, hotels, food and clothing. This worked out to roughly $5.7 billion over the course of the U.S. tour - which appears to be the most lucrative concert tour ever.“She’s an economic stimulus plan all on her own,” says KTLA consumer reporter David Lazarus.Taylor Swift performs during "The Eras Tour," Monday, Aug. 7, 2023, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Whether it was getting run off the field against USC or allowing late touchdowns to lose to Sacramento State and Arizona, first-year Stanford coach Troy Taylor would spend a lot of the postgame talking to his players to make sure they weren’t demoralized. He stopped doing those check-ins after a few weeks when he saw they weren’t necessary.“I realized that these guys are never going to quit,” Taylor said. “They’re never going to stop preparing and competing.”That attitude was displayed to a national audience in Friday night’s 46-43 double-overtime win over Colorado – at least those who didn’t turn the game off at halftime, when Stanford trailed 29-0.The Cardinal (2-4, 1-3 Pac-12) completed the largest comeback in school history and the fourth-largest in Pac-12 history to stun the sellout crowd at Colorado (4-3, 1-3).“Guys easily could have kind of given up a little bit,” Taylor said. “But they have never done that since I’ve been here and I’m just really proud. Rachele Harmuth, head of ThinkFun, a division of toy company Ravensburger, and resilience expert and family physician Deborah Gilboa, formed a MESH taskforce earlier this year with the goal of getting manufacturers to design toys with emotional resilience in mind and to have retailers market them accordingly.“We just need to educate parents and educators just a little bit t...Latest news
