LAKE FOREST — Whenever they are asked a question about attendance at team workouts in the month of May, there is a common response from Matt Eberflus - and it's to be expected. "This is a voluntary time for all the players," said the Bears' head coach when asked about a few on the team who were not spotted during the team's OTA workout Tuesday at Halas Hall. "Some players have certain things going on, and again, it's their right be there and not here, and we'll coach the guys that are here.Indeed the majority of workouts at Halas Hall in May and June are voluntary, with only the veteran veteran minicamp June 13-15 being mandatory. While a fair amount of players are in attendance in Lake Forest, it's common that there are a few who are doing work away from the team. ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Texas 17-year-old Aiyona Lee said she's lucky to be alive after what started out as a normal hike quickly changed when she encountered a rattlesnake at Fort Phantom Hill in Abilene Tuesday evening."I was walking, and I felt something thick that I stepped on, and I heard a little rattle... It wasn't loud, but it got me," said Lee. After the snake bit her left ankle, Lee told KTAB she just took off running. But due to the bite, she experienced numbness and fell as her leg stiffened."It feels like fire, like a knife. It hurts really bad," Lee described.Lee's friends immediately knew something was wrong when they heard her scream. Kyle Lackey said he hoped it was a cut from a cactus, but when he got a closer look, he knew she needed to be rushed to the hospital. Here’s what to do if you’re bitten by a rattlesnake "She takes one step and runs towards us. We didn't know what it was. She was screaming, something bit her. Editor’s Note: The video above shows KXAN News Today’s top headlines for May 25, 2023.AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The trial of an Austin police officer accused of murder in a 2020 deadly shooting, expected to begin earlier this week, won't start until after the holiday weekend. Attorneys with the case originally told KXAN opening statements would begin Thursday afternoon, but additional delays with jury selection have pushed the timeline back. Currently, seven jurors are seated in the case. The court needs 14, and the pool that qualified Thursday was not big enough to fill the remaining seven seats following the allotted strikes granted to both the State and the defense. Officers responded to an apartment complex on South Pleasant Valley Road after a 911 call reported someone dealing drugs in a car. Point in Time data released, not likely a full count of people experiencing homelessness in Austin

Published Thu, 06 Mar 2025 03:25:01 GMT

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Data from the first Point in Time (PIT) count conducted since the pandemic was released Thursday. The PIT count is done nationwide and is intended to be an estimate of the number of people sleeping outside on any given night in a community. During this year's count, more than 2,300 people were counted, according to the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO). Of those, nearly 1,300 were people sleeping outside or in cars and more than 1,100 were people sleeping in shelters or transitional housing. The number of people counted as experiencing homelessness has gone up, according to ECHO, aside from 2020 which it said was an outlier. "The trend is definitely clear here that our count has definitely been increasing over this longer period of time," Claire Burrus, who does data for ECHO, said. ECHO also mapped out where they located people sleeping outside. Since the last count, which was in 2020, people have become more spread out across the city and the number o...

The streaming service Disney+ will remove the 2020 film as of Friday.“Clouds” is one of 76 films and shows set to be deleted as Disney+ prepares to merge with Hulu later this year. While streaming services boomed in the early days of the pandemic, recent months have seen the biggest players upping prices while deleting content. Warner Bros. and Discovery led the charge after they merged last year and CEO David Zaslav cut dozens of titles from the two streamers and outright canceled the release of the nearly completed “Batgirl” movie after investing $90 million in it.Sobiech, a Lakeland teenager, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare kind of bone cancer, in 2012. He recorded the song “Clouds” as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family and posted it to YouTube in December that year. By the time of Sobiech’s death in May 2013 at the age of 18, “Clouds” had gone viral and earned mo...
