The trip to the Capitol was confirmed by two congressional aides granted anonymity to discuss the plans. The Ukrainian president made a wartime visit to Washington in December 2022 and delivered an impassioned address to a joint meeting of Congress. At the time Zelenskyy thanked Americans for helping to fund the war effort and told lawmakers the money is “not charity,” but an “investment...What’s up Christian McCaffrey’s sleeve in his LA encore for the 49ers?

SANTA CLARA — Christian McCaffrey was more than just an X-factor in his 49ers starting debut last year in Los Angeles. He was the X, Y and Z, seeing how he produced touchdowns as a passer, receiver and rusher.“Obviously it was a good one last year,” McCaffrey said Thursday at his locker. “Each year is a new year, so we’ve got to come in ready to go.”Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris knows all too well McCaffrey’s capabilities. Morris was an Atlanta Falcons assistant in McCaffrey’s first four years on the Carolina Panthers.“He is a pain in the neck. I feel like he’s following me,” Morris told Los Angeles reporters Thursday. “He was in the NFC South, then he followed me to the West, just to torture me a little bit more, right? You’re talking about one of the best who’s played in our game from a dual standpoint.”Or from a triple-threat standpoint.Last Oct. 30, in a 31-14 win over the host Rams, McCaffreyR...Letters: Policing the police | False choice | Cleaning up shipping | Student debt | Tuition lesson | Libya flooding

DENVER — After a week of stops and starts, the Giants were finally going to get Michael Conforto back in their lineup Thursday night. They will, instead, have to wait another day.Conforto, the Giants’ last remaining key piece on the injured list, was in the lineup as the designated hitter for their scheduled series opener against the Rockies, Gabe Kapler said. But not long after the manager had written Conforto’s name on the lineup card, the game was postponed. The Giants and Rockies will play two — split-doubleheader style — on Saturday to make up Thursday’s postponement. OAKLAND, California (AP) — Search giant Google has agreed to a $93 million settlement with the state of California on Thursday over the its location-privacy practices. The settlement follows a $391.5 million settlement with 40 states, reached in November 2022, to resolve an investigation into how the company tracked users’ locations. The states’ investigation was sparked by a 2018 Associated Press story, which found that Google continued to track people’s location data even after they opted out of such tracking by disabling a feature the company called “location history.”“Our investigation revealed that Google was telling its users one thing — that it would no longer track their location once they opted out — but doing the opposite and continuing to track its users’ movements for its own commercial gain. That’s unacceptable, and we’re holding Google accountable with today’s settlement,” said Attorney General Rob Bonta in a statement.Representatives for Google parent company Alphabet ...Kodai Senga, Mets play spoiler in 11-1 rout of Diamondbacks

DENTON, Texas (AP) — Kansas guard Arterio Morris entered a plea deal to end a misdemeanor assault case against him in Texas, canceling a trial scheduled for October, his attorney said Thursday.Morris was originally charged with a Class A misdemeanor on allegations he assaulted an ex-girlfriend in the Dallas area in June 2022, shortly before he enrolled at the University of Texas. Morris transferred to Kansas after the 2022-2023 season. The initial charge could have carried up to a year in jail. After several trial delays, Morris entered a nolo contendere plea, also known as a no contest plea, to a Class C assault misdemeanor and must pay a $362 fine, Morris’ attorney, Justin Moore, said. The plea allows a defendant to accept consequences of the charge without admitting guilt. Despite the arrest, Texas had let Morris, a top national recruit out of Dallas, play in all 38 games last season as the Longhorns advanced to the regional final of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged nearly 1...Uruguay’s confidence gets a boost at the Rugby World Cup after a spirited display against France

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Isaiah Simmons isn’t heading back to Arizona looking to get even with the Cardinals after they drafted him eighth overall in 2020 and then moved on before the start of this season. The 25-year-old Simmons still has good friends and former teammates in Arizona and he feels the Cardinals treated him well in his four seasons with them. They were the team that first allowed him to live his dream of playing in the NFL.While he made a lot of tackles for Arizona, more than 200 over the past two seasons, the former Clemson star never found a position. He played linebacker, safety and slot cornerback. They wanted him to be a linebacker and he saw himself as a hybrid player.Since being traded to New York on Aug. 24, Simmons has impressed defensive coordinator Wink Martindale with his speed. He was on the field for 15 plays on defense as well as special teams in the 40-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.“He’s fitting in. He’s fitting in,” Martindale ...Latest news
