A Pembroke Park commissioner is at the center of controversy after an independent investigation found his behavior created a toxic and hostile work environment.Pembroke Park Commissioner Geoffrey Jacobs is likely to be on the hot seat when the commission meets, Thursday night.“Since I’ve been here, I’ve been attacked nonstop,” he said during a recent commission meeting.Pembroke Park Mayor Ashira Mohammad did not hold back when she addressed the matter.“It’s been told that we are violating his human rights, or his First Amendment rights to free speech,” she said, “which is not, when you’re sitting here yelling at employees, hindering them from doing their jobs.”Speaking with 7News on Thursday, former tow attorney Melissa Anderson detailed Jacobs’ conduct while she was working for Pembroke Park.“He went after me like I have never, in my 35-year career had anybody. I mean, it was shocking,” she said. “I...Trump lawyers seek April 2026 trial date in federal election subversion case

WASHINGON (AP) — Lawyers for Donald Trump asked a federal judge in Washington to push back until years after the election a trial in Washington on charges that the former president conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The suggested April 2026 date is a dramatic counter to the Justice Department’s recommendation last week that the trial should begin Jan. 2, 2024. The question is ultimately up to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is expected to set at least a tentative trial date during an Aug. 28 court hearing. In a filing, Trump’s lawyers say the years-long delay is necessary both because of the unprecedented nature of the case and the “massive” amount of information — 11.5 million pages — that they have to review. They said they would have to review about 100,000 pages per day in order to meet the Justice Department’s proposed trial date.“If we were to print and stack 11.5 million pages of documents, with no gap between pages, ...Jahlani Tavai urges fans to support Hawaii after Patriots lend help

Boston was doomed by two early errors and some uncharacteristically poor pitching performances, and the result was a second straight loss to lose the series. The Red Sox trailed by as much as 9-1 after Washington scored five runs in the fifth and three in the sixth, but in the top of the seventh Boston’s bats finally came to life. GREEN BAY, Wisc. — New Patriots running back Ezekiel Elliott last practiced over seven months ago. He’s missed three weeks of training camp and just like any player in a similar situation needs to get back in football shape before the season starts Sept. 10.That’s why the three-time Pro Bowl selection was already thrust into full-team competitive drills Thursday in Green Bay during the Patriots’ joint practices with the Packers.Elliott received six carries total with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe against the Packers’ defense. He also caught a screen from Jones as part of roughly a dozen snaps.Related ArticlesNew England Patriots | Patriots extra points: Robert Kraft denied Hall of Fame entry again, when will he get in? LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) — Maui residents whose homes burned in a wildfire that incinerated a historic town and killed more than 100 people are steadily filling Hawaii hotels that are prepared to house them and provide services until at least next spring, officials said Thursday. Authorities hope to empty crowded, uncomfortable group shelters by early next week and move displaced people into hotel rooms, said Brad Kieserman, vice president for disaster operations with the American Red Cross. Hotels are also available for eligible evacuees who have spent the last eight days sleeping in cars or camping in parking lots, he said. “We will be able to keep folks in hotels for as long as it takes to find housing for them,” Kieserman said at a media briefing. “I am confident we’ll have plenty of rooms.” Contracts with the hotels will last for at least seven months but could easily be extended, he said. The properties will be staffed by service providers who will offer meals, counseling, financi...Latest news
