CHICAGO — The man accused of threatening former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot appeared in court Thursday for a status hearing.William Kohles, 42, was charged with one felony count of threatening a public official back in December. He reportedly threatened to shoot Lightfoot if she did not reduce crime in the city.At a hearing Thursday, attorneys discussed the discovery process and the judge set another court date for Aug. 31.Lightfoot was in attendance at the court hearing, and issued the following statement in response:"I attended today’s hearing as I take this matter with grave seriousness. The defendant is alleged to have issued a death threat against me that included the repeated use of derogatory and offensive language. WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A northwest suburban man who worked as a youth volleyball coach in the McHenry County area is charged with the indecent solicitation of a child. Phillip Bromley, 44, of McHenry allegedly communicated with an undercover detective online, posing as a girl under the age of 14 over several weeks. OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - An investigation has been called for at the Oklahoma County Jail after an officer wass caught on camera allegedly stomping on the head of an inmate Tuesday. KFOR obtained video security footage showing Chief Operating Officer Tony Towery approaching a detainee, bringing up his leg, and throwing it down. In the footage, the detainee's upper body including his head is flung to the side as if it was hit. Tony Towery is pictured on the right. AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin City Council is discussing a resolution Thursday that, if approved, would initiate amendment changes to the city's land development code, which would ultimately lead to higher-density living in Austin neighborhoods. Several organizations think this plan is essential in addressing Austin’s affordability crisis while some environmentalists are against the resolution, fearing it may have a negative impact on flooding.Council member Leslie Pool, District 7, introduced the resolution known as Home Options for Middle-Income Empowerment, or H.O.M.E. WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- Officials are responding to a large grass fire between Georgetown and Jarrell in Williamson County. The Texas A&M Forest Service is helping respond to the fire, named the Cobb Creek Fire, and estimates the fire has burned about 500 acres and is 25% contained as of 11:40 a.m. Thursday.The grass fire started Wednesday afternoon at 1001 Cobb Creek Road shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from Williamson County. Shortly before 9 p.m., Williamson County said no evacuations were issued.The forest service initially estimated the fire to be about 100 acres on Wednesday but said in an updated tweet Thursday that it was an estimated 500 acres. The service said the increase in acreage is a result of more accurate mapping.
